Cultural Bridge

The Cultural Bridge partnership promotes cross-border collaboration and exchange between Germany and the UK

Applications open in October 2024.

The Cultural Bridge partnership, which promotes cross-border collaboration and exchange between Germany and the UK has confirmed continued funding totalling £730,000 over two years through to 2026.

A stage; on it three people kneel around a slightly raised dais on which sits a while, detailed, paper mache city, softly and warmly lit by floodlights. In the middle, a large circle of sparking white light, seemingly held up by a leafless tree.

Cultural Bridge celebrates bilateral partnerships between the UK and Germany through the collaboration between Arts Council England, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, British Council, Creative Scotland, Fonds Soziokultur, Goethe-Institut London and Wales Arts International / Arts Council of Wales.

By funding partnerships between Germany and the UK, the programme aims to support a growing network of organisations committed to sharing expertise and skills, exchanging ideas and collaborating on artistic practices and projects that explore themes and issues faced by communities across both countries.

In 2021, Cultural Bridge launched its pilot programme supporting seven new collaborations between organisations across the UK and Germany to initiate projects exploring socially engaged practice through intercultural exchange and dialogue.

To date, Cultural Bridge has awarded £662,000 in grants and in 2024 confirmed a commitment to two further funding rounds of £360,000 and £370,000 respectively, totalling £730,000.
