In 2022, we celebrated 20 incredible years of the Youth Music Initiative (YMI).
The impact of YMI can be felt far and wide across Scotland, and in 2022 we spoke far and wide about the joy, resilience, community and opportunities that YMI has nurtured since 2003.
Discover more about what we got up to and find out how YMI will continue to support vital, lifelong learning and joy through music experiences to children and young people for the next 20 years.

As part of the 2023 celebrations, we hosted a special industry event to bring the Youth Music sector together and celebrate #YMusicMatters.
Taking place at Johnstone Town Hall, it featured a range of guest speakers who shared their stories and discussed the national picture of music education in Scotland.
We also welcomed our guests to experience our breakout spaces where they could Come and Watch young performers, Come and Hear from inspiring projects and Come and Try cutting-edge equipment.
Thanks to everyone who came, particularly the performers, pupils, and Neil Grey MSP who gave the closing remarks.
Discover more about the day from YMI Manager, Morag in our Spotlight feature.
