On this page, you will find the Creative Scotland Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Mainstreaming Reports - detailing the work we've already done to help mainstream EDI activity in our work - as well as our published Diversity Outcomes which outline what we're aiming to achieve going forward.
We believe in the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion in the arts, and following the Equality Act 2010, reports such as these became a statutory requirement.
The ‘general duty’ of the Equality Act requires public authorities, including Creative Scotland, in the exercise of their functions, to have due regard to the need to:
- Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct that is prohibited by the Equality Act 2010.
- Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a relevant protected characteristic and those who do not.
- Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
We do not underestimate the influence the arts, screen and creative industries can have in delivering these duties, transforming and improving people’s lives, through imagination, ambition and an understanding of the potential of creativity.
