Scottish creatives, organisations and businesses are invited to apply to the Go See Share fund for small grants aimed at increasing financial sustainability within the creative sector.
Supported by The National Lottery through Creative Scotland, this initiative provides individual awards of between £3,000 and £10,000. These grants are designed to help recipients develop best practice business knowledge and to share their insights with the wider community. The scheme helps creatives explore and share new ways to grow their enterprises and achieve financial sustainability by learning from and connecting with international creative business models.
Previous Go See Share recipients include:
- Hairy Heart Games’ digital games programmer, Joe Bain received support to attend Germany’s Gamescom to build partnerships with platform holders and distributors, learn how to connect with creative games programs in Europe, and showcase their work to European audiences.
- Rhona Warwick Paterson of First Hand Studio, who visited Handful in Berlin to gain insights into their business. During her visit, she explored membership models to accommodate growing demand while also building research networks.
- The team behind Art Night Dundee 2023 held online meetings and visited various festivals, including SPILL/Think Tank in Ipswich, Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival, Household in Belfast, Fierce Festival in Birmingham, and ANTI Festival in Finland. Aiming to create a financially sustainable and long-lasting art festival for Dundee, their research has focused on festivals based outside traditional centres that deliver live and temporary commissions while making a lasting impact on their local communities.
Creative Industries Officer at Creative Scotland, Jessica Bonehill said: “These grants offer a wide range of creative businesses and individuals opportunities to delve into business sustainability and apply these insights to bolster both their creativity and that of others. This year is no exception, and we encourage people to come forward with their ideas to explore diverse strategies being adopted by the creative sector, both nationally and internationally to help the creative industries thrive."
