Chamber Music Scotland launches Classical EDI Development Fund

Chamber Music Scotland is now accepting applications for our Classical EDI (Equalities, Diversity, and Inclusion) Development Fund.

Classical EDI Development Fund

Delivered in partnership with Creative Scotland, the fund is designed to support individual artists and representatives of arts organisations and creative businesses to identify and develop pathways to greater diversity and inclusivity in the Scottish classical music sector. Supported by The National Lottery through Creative Scotland, the Classical EDI Development Fund will distribute small grants of up to £2,000 for a range of professional development activities that will aim to inform and enhance future EDI practice in Scotland’s classical music sector.

We will select a cohort of individuals and organisations to build their EDI knowledge and skills by exploring the work of others. The cohort will be supported to create an open and constructive space for discussion and development that strengthens professional networks within the sector.

The programme will support Scotland-based recipients to explore new ways of working, forge new connections and collaborations, and share knowledge and ideas from across the classical music community.

  • Applications to this fund open on Wednesday 25 September 2024, with a deadline of 11am on Monday 4 November 2024.
  • Applicants must complete an application form describing the activity, including information on the timeframe and budget. You can download an application form from the Chamber Music Scotland website.

Paul Tracey, Chief Executive at Chamber Music Scotland says: “We are proud to be working with Creative Scotland to bring this opportunity to the Scottish classical music sector again in 2024/25. The Classical EDI Development Fund is an important resource to help individuals and organisations work toward achieving greater diversity within classical music, which will enrich the genre and foster an exciting future for the sector in Scotland.”

Emma Campbell, Music Officer at Creative Scotland says: "This fund's first year brought together an inspiring group of artists and practitioners committed to widening access and increasing representation in classical music. It's a great pleasure to work alongside Chamber Music Scotland again to relaunch the fund and invite a new round of applications. We're looking forward to seeing what new ideas and approaches we can help people to explore in the fund's second year."

The Classical EDI Development Fund is administered by Chamber Music Scotland on behalf of Creative Scotland.
