The Touring Fund aims to address recommendations from the Review of Touring Theatre and Dance in Scotland. Among the main conclusions was a call for a more strategic focus for touring, and the need to establish a touring fund driven by a renewed vision and clear strategic priorities around artistic quality, audiences, reach, balance of genre and scale, depth of engagement, efficiency, sustainability, continuity, and progression.
The Touring Fund for Theatre and Dance has consequently been developed in partnership with the Federation of Scottish Theatre (FST), and working groups made up of representatives of dance and theatre companies and Creative Scotland. You can read more in The Touring Fund for Theatre and Dance guidance.
The Touring Fund for Theatre and Dance has been live since 2018 and Creative Scotland now requires an individual or organisation with the relevant skills, expertise and experience to conduct an evaluation of The Touring Fund for Theatre and Dance. The purpose of the evaluation is to:
- Understand to what extent the fund’s aims and ambitions have been met.
- Better understand the impact for funding recipients and venues in relation to the stated aims of The Touring Fund for Theatre and Dance.
