How to Request Assistance

What you will need to provide

You will need to provide:

  • Confirmation that you self-identify as D/deaf, hard of hearing, disabled or living with chronic illness, mental illness or neurodivergence
  • The name and contact information of someone who can help you (service provider*)
  • The type of support you need
  • The amount you are requesting, including the service provider’s hourly rate

*A service provider can be a support worker, colleague, friend who has the skills to support you in the ways described on this page.

Submitting your assistance request

What will happen once we receive your request

Once we have received your request, we will reply to confirm if you are eligible and what access support funds are confirmed. Please wait for this reply before beginning work with your service provider.

Please note that before applying for any funding for your creative activity from Creative Scotland:

  • You must first have registered for an account on our online application portal, which you can request support with as detailed above
  • You must also meet the eligibility requirements for the fund you are applying for
  • Your service provider’s quote must be approved by Creative Scotland before assistance can begin

An officer will determine your eligibility within 10 working days of receiving the required information.

When to Request Assistance

Recommended timelines:

  • Online application portal support: before the work begins on your application
  • Funding application and reapplication support: 2-4 weeks before you start work on your application
  • Project monitoring and reporting: 2-4 weeks prior to your report due date
