The jazzahead! Bursaries

We're working with Glasgow International Jazz Festival to enable Scotland-based jazz artists to attend jazzahead! - the largest gathering of jazz professionals in the world.

Applications are now open

jazzahead! is the industry’s biggest international gathering, taking place from 24 to 26 April 2025 in Bremen, Germany.

In 2025, Creative Scotland is working with Glasgow International Jazz Festival to support a delegation of artists with bursaries to attend jazzahead! In addition, we’re delighted that duo Norman&Corrie (saxophonist Norman Willmore and drummer Corrie Dick) will appear among the 38 showcase concerts in 2025.

About the bursaries

Funded by The National Lottery through Creative Scotland and administered by Glasgow International Jazz Festival, bursaries are available to Scotland-based jazz and improvising musicians to attend jazzahead! 2025 in Bremen, Germany.

We believe that attendance at jazzahead! encourages and enables artists working in Scotland’s jazz and improvised music scenes to develop professional knowledge and international connections that enhance their careers, such as through future collaborations, bookings and other opportunities.

What does the bursary cover?

  • jazzahead! registration costs
  • Travel, accommodation and subsistence costs
  • Access support costs, as required, in addition
  • Pre-event briefings, advice and mentoring
  • Inclusion in promotional material produced by Creative Scotland

Who can apply?

Scotland-based jazz and improvising musicians can apply for a bursary. Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are ready to take advantage of this opportunity.

We aim to support artists attending jazzahead! for the first time, as well as those who have attended before. We plan to support around five delegates in total.
