Biography

Sophie Bancroft is a songwriter, singer and guitarist whose work is informed by a unique blend of jazz and folk influences. She has released nine CDs on Lisaleo Records including Songs, one of The Herald’s top Scottish albums of 2015, and Monday Nights, the most recent offering from her duo Bancroft & Lyne, which was listed in Jazzviews’ top jazz albums of 2020.

Her music has been used in the HBO series Six Feet Under, recorded by award-winning vocalist Liane Carroll and the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, and, in the case of her song Old Mother Blackbird, featured in a short self-produced film currently being screened as part of Virgin Atlantic’s inflight entertainment offer. She was composer and musical director for Dementia – The Musical which toured major theatres in Scotland throughout Autumn 2024.
